an internationally accredited agency
The Mason Police Department has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) since 1997. Accreditation provides public safety agencies an opportunity to voluntarily demonstrate that they meet an established set of professional standards.
The standards help law enforcement agencies:
- Formalize essential management procedures
- Establish fair and nondiscriminatory personnel practices
- Improve service-delivery
- Solidify interagency cooperation and coordination
- Boost citizen and staff confidence in the agency
